The John Lewis project was led by main contractor Wates Construction and comprised of a series of complex works that gave the store a fresh and revitalised presence. Mercer Scaffolding were involved in the project over a 12 week period of phased works. Heights Maintenance Ltd tasked Mercer with providing a safe system of working when carrying out high level box gutter relining.
The Mercer team were keen to be involved in such a project and contributed by implementing layer loading and stair towers, in conjunction with roof-safe SG4 cantilevered handrail brackets. Team leader Mr Robbie George successfully completed the works as per IDH drawings and organised his team to work out of store opening hours to minimise disruption in the case of front elevation.

Testimonial from Adam Catchpole, Managing Director at Heights Maintenance Ltd:
"John Lewis in High Wycombe was a complex maintenance refurbishment project to modernise and refresh the flagship department store. The works included roof maintenance at varying levels in height. Due to the nature of the works and the need to protect workers and the public a safe and reliable scaffold company was required. Mercer scaffolding were involved from project inception and gave informed, practical advice about design and safe positioning/use of scaffolds and enabled our workforce to gain access and work safely on all the roof spaces.
Mercer scaffolding are experts in their field, the managers and operatives are proficient, reliable and competent. Mercer supported the ever changing needs of this project to ensure deadlines were met. Their approach towards safety and managing complex risk is exemplary. Mercers set a high standard and deliver a sound, quality and safe service".
