Starting in January 2013 Mercer Scaffolding led the way in a project that required the construction of two new reinforced concrete bridges and the preceding demolition of an existing bridge. The two newly created bridges were constructed over the top of a dual carriageway. The job took place at the A13 Stanford le Hope bypass and was completed by August 2013.
The Mercer team led by Mr Nicholas Mercer used traditional scaffolding equipment such as tubing, various fittings, debris netting, alloy beams, corrugated iron sheets and mono-flex. Equipment used aided them in putting up independent scaffolds and a temporary roof prior to all concrete foreman works. Free standing scaffolds were also erected to help complete the new bridges, as per design drawings provided by IDH. The job presented an unusual challenge for the team and its client DV7 Construction Ltd due to working on top of and so close to a live dual carriageway.

Testimonial from Dodger Sian, Director at DV7 Construction:
"The project at the A13 bypass was challenging from the outset working so close to a live dual carriageway. Mercer Scaffolding prioritised safety during the works and did an outstanding job meeting all the demands and challenges faced. Their vast experience and advanced skills are very apparent when working with them. The project was successfully completed and we thank Mercer for their contribution and look forward to working with them again".
